Rainbow Bee-eater photos:
At first I thought these birds were catching something to eat, but it appears that they are having a quick bath. I have observed this activity at Freshwater lake in Cairns, and at Half Moon bay golf club lake on numerous occasions. perhaps a quick bath is afer than spending time on the edge of the water. See a sequence of photos of this activity further down this page. Obviously it is very difficult to catch such quick birds in the frame, in focus, and with a minimum of motion blur.
A quick dip, followed by rising like a phoenix.
